Its Game Day. Early Kick Offs

Plenty of action today, with the highlight the FA Cup Semi final between Palace and Villa at 5.15pm (more on that later).

First we have a few tips in the early kick offs…

QPR to draw or win vs Burnley (5/6) – Burnley are on a 31 match unbeaten run, but with promotion already secured and unknown levels of celebration this week, i’m taking a chance on the Hoops to claim at least a point at Loftus Road. £12 Single

Luton to beat Coventry (13/10) – it’s almost last chance saloon for Luton. They have improved in recent weeks to give them a chance of survival . They beat Bristol City last time out and will need to repeat that against fellow play off chasers Coventry. £8 Single. We are also chancing a Red Card in the match (6/1) – £5 single

Over 2.5 goals Bristol Rovers v Reading (3/4) – It’s now or never for Rovers. They are 8 games without a win and defeat here would condemn them to relegation. I tipped them up on Monday, but they let me down and this will be tough against play off chasing Reading. With so much on the line, I expect a few goals. £12 Single

Leyton Orient to beat Wycombe (13/8) – The O’s have won their last 4 games and are locked in battle with Reading for the final League 1 play off spot. Wycombe still harbour automatic promotion dreams, but a demoralising 4-0 loss at home to Charlton last time out might have done lasting damage. £8 Single

£45 staked on the early Kick Offs and we will have a few Bet Builders on the Chelsea v Everton and Luton v Coventry matches.

Good Luck with your bets!

SUMMARY:

Early red card for Coventry lands a 6/1 winner!

Burnley 2-0 after 20 minutes – clearly their celebrations were not good enough. Lightweights!

HALF TIME:

Not looking great at HT, QPR Double chance tip is looking like a contender for the worst of all time (0-3 down)

No goals in Bristol Rovers v Reading match and also goalless at Orient and Luton.

We have the red card for Coventry which pays £35 and if Luton can take advantage of playing against 10 men for 75 minutes we will be in profit.

FULL TIME UPDATE

Some decent tips and some terrible tips! But we end up in profit from the early kick offs

Wins for Orient, Luton and a Red Card delivers a £29.40 profit

Potters can banish relegation fears

Stoke have perked up under Mark Robins and have won 3 of their last 4 home games and are unbeaten in 5 at the Bet365 Stadium

The Potters can extinguish any lingering relegation fears with another home win against Sheffield United.

Stoke’s need for points is far greater than Sheffield United’s.

The Blades are guaranteed to finish 3rd and already have their ticket to the play off lottery. A late stumble (3 defeats in their last 4 matches) has cost them and they may find it hard to motivate themselves here.

Stoke to win at 5/4 (Betfair) is our first advised bet – £20 Single

Player to be Carded:

Ben Pearson (11/10), Hamza Choudhury (11/4), Wouter Burger (7/2), Junior Tchamadeu (7/2), Kieffer Moore (11/2)

£5 Singles on each

Player Shot on Target

Calum O Hare (5/4)

£5 Single

Others

Kieffer Moore – 2+ Fouls (11/10), Over 10.5 Corners (7/5), Over 2.5 Goals (23/20)

£10 Singles on each

SUMMARY

10 bets advised – £80 Staked. Full Update coming post match

Well the theory that Sheffield United may not be up for this one was blown out the water as they put in an assured performance and deservedly took the 3 points.

Not great on the tips tonight – Ben Pearson got his customary yellow card, Kieffer Moore put himself around and committed 4 fouls and the corners bet squeaked home.

We were a bit unlucky not to see a yellow card for Burger (3 fouls, with a very nasty over the ball challenge on Brewster) and Moore (4 fouls, including a swinging arm that on another day would have been punished)

But excuses don’t pay the bills and with a 30% strike-rate % we post a loss of £24.50

Arsenal v Crystal Palace – Singles

Everywhere you look in the Premier League at the moment, there are teams with their eyes on other prizes. The clash between Arsenal and Palace is no different.

Arsenal will want to finish second in the PL but Champions League is now their main focus, whilst Palace have the FA Cup semi final on the weekend. Team news could be interesting and shape the advised bets for tonight

This makes it difficult to predict how matches will pan out and added to that Palace are a tough team to get on the right side of at the best of times (PL record is W11, D11, L11).

So i’m going into this match with a degree of caution.

The bedrock of my Bet Builders tonight will be on Over 2.5 goals and 10+ corners (but that pays just over 13/8 which is too skinny for the stakes i’m playing with tonight).

Team news could be interesting and we will have to wait and see before posting the advised bets for tonight.

Updated tips will be available at about 7.15pm..

Palace have gone stronger than I thought they would which gives them a chance to cause a bit of upset here.

Recommended Bets:

Palace to win or draw (2/1) – £10 Single

Palace to have 11+ Shots (9/5) – £10 Single

Player to be Carded

Jefferson Lerma (11/5), Daniel Munoz (3/1), Adam Wharton (4/1), Myles Lewis Skelly (5/1)

£5 Singles on each

Player Shots on Target

Martin Odegaard (5/6), Eberichi Eze (10/11), Declan Rice (6/5), Thomas Partey (13/5)

£5 Singles on each

£60 Staked on the Singles and I will also post a selection of Bet Builders (Please note: our Tracking of bets excludes Bet Builders and only includes Single bets advised

SUMMARY

3 winning bets from the 10 selections, but we still made a small profit despite just a 30% strike rate.

Palace obliged with the draw (2/1) and managed 15 Match shots (9/5).

Player bets were again disappointing, with just the Eze goal (Shot on target 10/11) coming in.

Stakes £60. Returns £67.55. Giving a small profit of £7.55.

Streaks

Whatever you think of Scott Parker (and I know he is pretty unpopular amongst Fulham and Bournemouth fans despite guiding both clubs to promotion) – he is a cheat code in the Championship (when he has a promotion grade wage budget)

What I had missed was just how long Burnley have gone without a defeat – 31 Championship matches without losing is an incredible achievement and puts them head and shoulders above all other teams in the league.

Matches without Defeat

Burnley (31), Gillingham (10), Birmingham (9), Doncaster (9), Leeds (8), Wrexham (8), Arsenal (7)

Walsall have not been able to buy a win in League 2. They are now 12 without a win and have drawn 7 of their last 10 games. A run of 9 consecutive wins in Dec-Jan looked to have all but assured them of promotion, but they have gone full on Devon Loch in the run in. They still have a chance to claim an automatic promotion spot, but will need to break this winless streak against Accrington.

Matches without a Win

Shrewsbury (15), Walsall (12), Leicester (10), Southampton (9), Bristol Rovers (8), Newport (7)

Not many people do the Football Pools anymore (but it is still going), you may want to avoid the following teams on your coupon

Matches without a Draw

Newcastle (19), Huddersfield (15), Fulham (13), Bolton (11), Millwall (11)

Man City v Aston Villa

The battle for Champions League qualification continues as Man City host Aston Villa live on Sky.

Villa have been on fire in recent weeks and have recorded 5 consecutive PL wins. A feature of those wins has been the increase in the number of Shots (17-23-23) and Shots on Target (8-8-9) over the last 3 games.

Creating shooting opportunities won’t be so easy at the Etihad as City will look to dominate possession, but I fancy Villa to manage 12+ shots (Evens)

As usual we have a selection of singles that will be mixed and matched for £20 worth of small stake Bet Builders.

Player to be Carded

Amadou Onana (15/8), Boubacar Kamara (5/2), Mateo Kovacic (11/4), Matty Cash (11/4), Bernardo Silva (10/3)

£5 Singles on each selection

Player Shot on Target

Mateo Kovacic (17/10), Amadou Onana (21/10), Jacob Ramsey (5/4), Youri Tielemans (6/5), Josko Gvardiol (12/5), Nico O’ Reilly (5/2)

£5 Singles on each selection

Others

Aston Villa to have 12+ Shots (Evens)

£25 Single

SUMMARY

Total Stakes of £80. Good luck with your bets!

Not a great evenings work on the tips and not a great game. Without wanting to go full on Gary Neville, that was a match lacking intensity and excitement, but at least we got a dramatic finish

Only managed a paltry 2 winning selections out of 12.

The biggest bet of the night, Villa to have 12+ shots fell well short, they had 5 in the first half but did very little from an attacking perspective in the 2nd period and only managed another 2 attempts.

We take the hit and move on with a loss of £44.83

SUMMARY

4-0 to the Arsenal, but not a great game which was ruined by the Leif Davis red card.

We staked £55 and managed a return of £56! Profit is profit, but can’t get much for £1 any more

Ipswich v Arsenal – Bet Builders

Here at Bet Builder Buzz we like to place a selection of Bet Builders on the big games, normally staking £20 across a number of bets.

Some of our favourites for the Ipswich v Arsenal game..

Nothing on the Bet Builders on this game. The Leif Davis red card ended the match as a contest.

We were a Sam Morsy yellow card away from a winning Bet Builder and have to take the £20 loss on the chin

Sunday Stats and Standouts

We have 4 decent looking Premier League games to get our teeth into today.

The the top 2 Arsenal and Liverpool travel to relegation bound Ipswich and Leicester, with both games live on Sky. Man Utd host Wolves and there is a West London derby at Craven Cottage as Fulham host Chelsea.

We have been scouring the stats this morning for your Sunday Stats and Standouts, using my favourite 2 resources; soccerstats.com and fbref.com

Key Standouts

Wolves have won their last 4 PL matches (3 of them away from home). They could be worth a punt at 7/4 to cause an upset at Old Trafford. United are fully focused on the Europa League (their Semi Final is not until May 1st) but there is every chance that Amorin will rotate after Thursdays epic comeback win against Lyon. BACK WOLVES at 7/4

Fulham are on a run of 12 PL games without a draw and are consistently inconsistent. Their form in the last 8 matches is WLWLWLWL so they should win today if that pattern is to be continued. Until last year Fulham couldn’t buy a win against Chelsea, and always go into these games with a bit of an inferiority complex. Fulham have never completed a League double over Chelsea and this is a must win game for the blues in their quest for a Champions League place. BACK CHELSEA at 6/5

Arsenal have the longest unbeaten record in the PL (6 without a defeat) and should be brimming with confidence after their Champions League exploits. Ipswich won’t make things easy but I think The Gunners can keep a clean sheet here. BACK ARSENAL TO WIN TO NIL at 6/5

Liverpool could secure the Premier League title today if they win and Arsenal lose. Leicester have been woeful under RVN and I expect Liverpool to cut loose here. BACK LIVERPOOL TO WIN (-2) at 13/8

£10 Singles on all selections and 4 x £1 Trebles and a £1 4 Fold for a total stake of £45

SUMMARY

With the Liverpool game still to come, we are 3/3 on the Sunday Standouts.

We staked £45 and so far have returns of £71.50 and a guaranteed £1 Treble paying (£13.31), so guaranteed profits here.

Will do a final count after the Liverpool game…

Liverpool let us down for a clean sweep, so the final score on the Sunday Stats and Standouts is 3 wins from 4. £45 Staked and returns of £84.81. Profit of £39.81
